ATC seeks IO’s report in Perween Rahman murder case
An anti-terrorism court directed the officer investigating the murder of Orangi Pilot Project director Perween Rahman on Saturday to submit a report in connection with the arrest of a suspect, Rahim Swati
Police produced Swati before the administrative judge of the ATC amid tight security.
He was arrested after an encounter in Manghopir last month and has been in custody since then.
He was found in possession of Illegal weapons.
He was first kept in custody for attacking police and possessing illegal arms and later implicated in Rehamn’s murder case.
Swati is believed to be affiliated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. Rahman was shot dead in March 2013 near Banaras flyover in Karachi.
The administrative judge of the ATC sent Swati to jail on judicial remand and directed the investigating officer to submit a report at the next hearing.
