Kidnappers of the Karachi Development Authority’s (KDA) anti-encroachment cell director had grilled him about land located in Gulistan-e-Johar, Surjani Town, Sohrab Goth and Korangi, the Sindh High Court (SHC) was informed by SSP investigation on Thursday.
Jameel Baloch had gone missing on May 27 after he had left for home for him office in Civic Centre, but was found unharmed near the Karachi airport on Wednesday.
KMC’s legal officer Syed Sultan Ahmed had filed a petition against his disappearance from civic center.
The petitioner maintained that Baloch had identified men carrying out encroachments and china-cutting of land in the city.
The KDA director along with SSP East Zulfiqar Mahar appeared before the court. The SSP investigation filed a brief statement regarding his kidnapping and recovery and submitted that investigations were underway.
He submitted that Baloch had stated that some unknown persons had picked him up from near the Civic Centre in a white Toyota corolla car and kept him blind folded for four days.
He said that Baloch did not know the accused but was willing to cooperate with the law enforcers.
According to the petitioner, the KDA directed had submitted that some other people were also detained in the place where he was kept. Baloch had further maintained that he was receiving threats calls from South Africa.
To a court’s query regarding protection of land from mafias and encroachers, the SSP investigation submitted that a special task force comprising 1,600 officials had been established to protect the government’s land.
SHC’s division bench headed by Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, directed SSP Chaudhry Asad of anti-encroachment’s special task force to appear before the court on June 9 and directed SSP investigation to get hold of the kidnappers at the earliest.
In another case against land grabbing and encroachment of land in Gulistan-e-Johar, the court had ordered that all land grabbers who caused hindrance in implementation of court orders be booked and a detailed report be submitted within 10 days.
The court was informed by applicants that they were given possession of land in Gulistan-e-Johar but people belonging to land mafia were causing hindrance and not allowing them to carry out any constructions at the plots.
The court directed SSP concerned of the area to provide protection so that applicant could raise construction on their lands.
The court had earlier ordered removal of encroachment from block 10 and 11 of Gulistan-e-Johar on petition of Ms. Talat Ejaz and others against encroachment of their plots.
They submitted that their allotted land had been encroached by the land grabbers and authorities concerned were not taking action to retrieve the encroached land. They submitted that superior courts had already ordered handing over possession of land to its real allottees however the encroachers had made permanent houses on their allotted land.
