Our elite seemingly operate under a different set of rules. When they err, they swiftly receive reprieve, as exemplified by past cases. A disturbing trend emerges where high-ranking officials, politicians, and other elite individuals depart the country post-retirement or when controversy strikes. Why do these individuals, who benefited from the country's highest honours and positions, abandon it forever? The answer, sadly, suggests a lack of patriotism. To address this, legislation should be enacted to restrict immediate post-retirement emigration, allowing for temporary visits but mandating return. Non-compliance should incur substantial fines and property forfeiture. Such laws would give would-be expats pause for thought. By implementing these measures, we can curb the brain drain, foster accountability, and promote a culture of loyalty among those who have benefited from our nation's bounty.
