Modern training of doctors need of hour: minister
LAHORE : Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has said the government is improving treatment facilities in government hospitals as per the vision of Punjab CM.
The minister attended the closing ceremony of the three-day third annual international conference organised by King Edward Medical University (KEMU) as a special guest.
Till date, we have not banned a patient for treatment in any government hospital. Policymakers and professionals should stand hand in hand. Modern training of doctors has become very important. At the government level, there will be no shortage in any sector. We need to work on trauma and emergency medicine. Politicians always bridge the gap between institutions and professionals, the minister said.
He said, “We are ensuring the supply of medicines in government hospitals. We are improving the treatment facilities in the government hospitals as per the vision of the CM. The role of Prof Javed Akram and late Prof Faisal Masood has been key during dengue era. Every moment of a trauma patient is precious.”
Pro Vice Chancellor Prof M Moin, Former President Royal College of Emergency Medicine Dr John Halworth, Prof Aftab Mohsin, Registrar Prof M Imran, Prof Waris, Prof Ahsan Nauman, Prof Taj Mustafa, Prof Junaid Mustafa, Prof Abdul Salam, Dr Soumia Iqtdar, Dr Rabia and a large number of experts from the country and abroad including Rathore from the department of medicine participated. Prof Yar Mohammad conducted 50 leading training lectures.
Khawaja Salman Rafique while addressing the participants of the conference said that he congratulated the administration for organising the awareness conference on a very important topic and welcomed foreign medical experts to Pakistan.
Prof Taj Mustafa said that he is extremely grateful for the excellent teaching opportunities and excellent hospitality in the conference headed by Prof Mahmood Ayaz.
Prof Mahmood Ayaz said that 20 to 30 percent of people are victims of traffic accidents. The major cause of accidents is not following the traffic rules. By using seat belt and helmet, a lot of damage can be avoided. The implementation of traffic rules by the government has reduced considerably, he said.
Prof Javed Akram said in his opinion that the scope of emergency medicine specialties needs to be expanded at the tehsil and district level. We have to play our part for the promotion and improvement of this sector, he said.
