Islamabad: As street crime surges in Islamabad, public concern mounts over law enforcement's ability to address the growing issue. In a recent incident at Kachnar Park in the I-8 Markaz area, an armed mugger attacked a young woman, Sofia, attempting to snatch her mobile phone and purse. When Sofia resisted, the assailant shot her, leaving her with severe injuries.
A bystander, Ahtisham, son of Sajjad, bravely intervened in an effort to help Sofia. Unfortunately, the robber also opened fire on him, injuring him as well. Both victims were quickly transported to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where they are reported to be in serious condition. This latest violent episode has intensified fears among residents, particularly in I-8 Markaz, where similar incidents are becoming alarmingly frequent.
