Economic turnaround
This letter refers to the news report ‘Economy showing early signs of recovery: Ministry Report’ (September 28, 2024). The report mentioned that the Finance Division has reported key data improvements suggesting that an early economic recovery is on the way. This recovery is marked by large-scale manufacturing rebound, decreasing inflation, enhanced fiscal discipline, key export sectors ramping up production, stable exchange rates, accommodative monetary policy, and galloping stock market figures.
I hope these early trends are maintained and built upon by this present government. Hats off to PM Shehbaz Sharif, the finance minister, the SBP governor and the FBR chairman for delivering this turnaround in the country’s economic performance. This is one of the most important governments to ever hold office in Pakistan and I am sure it will deliver to the nation’s expectations by the time the next elections arrive.
