No deal for release of Bushra Bibi, others: Omar Ayub
Omar Ayub claims Imran Khan had no proper facilities in jail despite being former prime minister and most popular leader of country
HARIPUR: Opposition leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan on Sunday ruled out any deal for the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s founder Imran Khan's spouse Bushra Bibi and his sisters.
“There was no deal for their release. The bails have been granted purely on merit,” he told reporters at the Haripur Press Club here. The PTI leader said Bushra Bibi faced bravely harsh treatment in her nine months jail.
Omar Ayub also claimed that Imran Khan had no proper facilities in jail despite being the former prime minister and most popular leader of the country. “He has no access to electricity and water. Even substandard meals are being served to him in the jail,” he went on to add.
Imran Khan is languishing in jail on false charges, he said, adding that the PTI founder was facing all the hardships to pave the way for the rule of law and uphold the constitution. Omar Ayub said Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi was an expert jurist. “There is a need for supremacy of the law and constitution in Pakistan. The PTI expects justice from Chief Justice Yahya Afridi,” he said.
He was critical of the former chief justice Qazi Faez Isa and alleged that the violations of human rights were at their peak during his (Qazi Faez Isa) tenure as the top judge of the country.
Omar Ayub accused the retired chief justice of having a bias against the PTI. “He was arrogant and his bias against the PTI was an open secret,” said the PTI leader while pointing to the ex-CJ decision in the PTI election symbol case in a bid to keep the PTI out of the February 8 general elections race this year.
