‘New strategy being enforced to curb violent crime in District East’
The District East senior superintendent of police has announced a policy for curbing the menace of violent crime in the district and ordered its strict implementation.
SSP Farrukh Raza said on Friday there have been incidents of violent crime around the Jamali Bridge and its adjoining areas for the last one week. An integrated strategy has been drawn up in this regard, which will be implemented from Friday night.
He added that these measures are expected to improve the situation, and in this regard the force is being increased and additional vehicles and motorcycles are being provided for patrolling.
SSP Raza said one DSP will personally check the patrolling on a daily basis, and a monitoring team has been formed in the district. He said employees who have been posted at a police station for a long time and who have become inactive due to permanent posting are being transferred.
Moreover, following steps have been taken to identify the culprits of the crime that took place in the last week; a team has been formed which is working and the technical team is working separately on it; and the SHO has been made responsible and given five days’ time to give progress; otherwise, action will be taken.
He added that the Jamali Bridge’s location has been in the headlines for crime in the past. In this regard, a strategy was made on May 15, 2024, due to which crime decreased and results were achieved.
The incidents that took place last week were reported on the link roads around the Jamali Bridge, and the current strategy is being enforced, the results of which will start coming soon.
Professionally, the District East Police are active in this situation and will continue its work.
