KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has postponed the start of the first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, which was scheduled to begin on Oct. 20, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The tournament, which is Pakistan’s premier domestic competition, faces uncertainty as the final schedule for the current season has not yet been confirmed.

The PCB’s domestic department is reportedly waiting for approval from Chairman Mohsin Naqvi of several matters, including the rescheduled dates. Sources said an official announcement is expected soon.

This postponement is the latest in a series of disruptions to PCB’s domestic cricket calendar. The Under-19 domestic tournament was also suspended after just one day of play earlier this year.

As a backup, sources said the domestic department has informed teams representing various departments to prepare for the President’s Trophy, another first-class competition, in case the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy faces further delays.

The President’s Trophy is currently scheduled to start on Jan. 6. If the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy remains delayed, PCB could prioritise the Presidents Trophy, sources said.
