53,323 power thieves held in 9 months
LAHORE:Punjab Police have intensified its crackdown on electricity thieves across the province, including Lahore and arrested 53,323 power thieves in nine months.
According to a Punjab Police spokesman, 53,323 accused were detained, 91,264 were booked and 58,067 challans were submitted and over 7,000 power thieves have been convicted. The spokesman said 28,400 electricity thieves were arrested and 28,618 booked in Lahore. The IGP has directed an indiscriminate action against power thieves and proclaimed offenders (POs).
Child recovered in hour
The Virtual Center for Child Safety successfully located an abducted child within one hour. The centre received a call about the abduction of a 9-year-old child from Harbanspura and he was traced, recovered and handed over to his family in one hour.
