PESHAWAR: Allah Walay Trust, a non-governmental organisation, has pledged to provide free meals and health services to 10,000 students in government primary schools in the provincial capital.

The decision was taken at a meeting with Commissioner, Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mahsud, who directed the officials to allocate a central location for the establishment of a kitchen and office to facilitate the initiative.

During the meeting, Allah Walay Trust’s Country Head, Rana Hassan Afzal, shared details of the organization’s existing welfare projects. Currently, the trust provides free meals and health services to 91,000 students in 232 government schools across Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Islamabad. “Our goal is to improve the health and academic engagement of children by offering them nutritious meals and regular medical check-ups,” Hassan Afzal said.

The trust’s health services include daily check-ups conducted by certified doctors, as well as the provision of free eyeglasses and treatment for students with weak eyesight. These efforts, according to Hassan Afzal, have led to significant improvements in students’ health and interest in their education.

Commissioner Riaz Khan Mahsud praised the trust’s initiative, emphasizing the importance of public-private partnerships in welfare activities. “This is a commendable effort, and we fully support the trust’s commitment to improving the health and education of our children. We will ensure that all necessary support is provided to make this project a success,” said Riaz Mahsud.
