This letter refers to the news report ‘Four more children crippled by poliovirus in Pakistan’ (October 9, 2024). Afghanistan and Pakistan should at least cooperate on the eradication of polio. I personally observed how diligently the government of Pakistan has been trying to vaccinate children when I last visited.
It is tragic that some elements not only fiercely reject the vaccine but go to the extent of harming those who are trying to vaccinate each and every child all over the country. I hope the day when Pakistan is 100 per cent polio free comes soon.
