ISLAMABAD: The tenure of acting MD Shahid Islam has ended on April 30, 2015 but he continues to perform his duties.
Federal minister for petroleum and natural resources while talking to The News said that the tenure of acting MD PSO has been extended and the competent authority has given approval, on April 30, the same day as his three-month tenure ended but because of the holidays notification could not be issued. The notification was issued on May 05, 2015 and his tenure has been extended till the appointment of regular MD of the state entity.
However, Shahid Islam while talking to The News said he has received no such information, nor he has any knowledge of such notification.A well-placed source in PSO informed The News the ministry of petroleum and natural resources has sent three names to the prime minister for appointment as MD PSO. Two of them, according to NAB report, were involved in oil pricing scam worth Rs82 billion.
But the federal minister said this is just speculation as he has never heard about it. He, however, said he has sent the summary to the prime minister for his approval and it is prime minister’s prerogative to approve one name out of these three.
