Puppet govt wants to create ‘black constitutional court’: Salman Raja

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja Wednesday said the aim of the ‘puppet government’ was to create a ‘black constitutional court’, and in that way, the authority of fundamental rights was being taken away from the judiciary.

Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court, where the PTI lawyers protested against the proposed court, he called for standing by the right and the truth and alleged that the aim of the constitutional amendment was to paralyse the judiciary.

The PTI leader expressed concerns that there was a plan to produce us and our children in the military courts. “We are being told that there will be no constitution and law in the country,” he added.

He contended that human rights were being trampled and those who worked for democracy in the past had become pawns for oppression. “What Rana Sanaullah said is a negation of the Constitution,” Salman Raja said while referring to the statement of adviser to PM on political affairs that it was imperative to stop the PTI for the sake of democracy, Constitution and law.

Separately, PTI founder chairman Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan said after Rawalpindi, there would be a peaceful protest at the D Chowk Islamabad on October 4. Talking to the media in Rawalpindi, she alleged that Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) were protecting the “mandate thieves”.

Aleema said, “Even if we have to come out for ten times, we will do so; what will they do to us with such a big leader leading us. Imran Khan has said that until the judiciary and democracy are freed, the protest will continue”.

Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram said it seemed as if Mianwali was a more important area than the Red Zone in Capital, as all roads and internet had been closed there, and many citizens arrested.

Addressing a news conference, he claimed that workers were being arrested in Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad. Akram said the Punjab Police had been raiding houses since night, and all roads leading to Mianwali had been blocked.

He pointed out that the CPEC route had also been closed with containers, all the routes coming from the barrage had been closed, internet service was also suspended in many areas since Tuesday night.

A PTI spokesman claimed that PTI organisational officials, including members of the provincial assembly, had been arrested. Those released on bail from the court had also been picked up, hundreds of citizens had been arrested in Faisalabad, he added.
