PESHAWAR: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders on Tuesday expressed serious concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Speaking at a press conference, PPP Provincial President Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha and other leaders, including MPA Ahmed Karim Kundi and former provincial minister Ziaullah Afridi, accused the provincial government of criminal negligence.

Muhammad Ali Bacha criticized the government for its continued silence on the unrest in Kurram tribal district.“The provincial government has chosen to remain silent while the situation worsens,” Muhammad Ali Bacha said, adding that his party would not remain a bystander. “We will raise our voice for the province.”

Muhammad Ali Bacha also criticized the misuse of provincial resources, accusing the government of using them for political rallies instead of the province’s development. “If they need to free a prisoner, they should use their own resources,” he said, referring to recent actions by the provincial administration. “The people’s mandate was given to you for the province’s progress, not for personal agendas,” he went on to add.

He announced that the PPP would protest against the provincial chief minister at every forum. “The chief minister’s recent statement is only spreading chaos in the country, and no tangible steps have been taken for the province’s development,” Bacha added. He recalled that the governor had earlier offered to collaborate for the betterment of the province, but his offer was ignored.

Muhammad Ali Bacha also expressed disappointment over the state of governance in the province. “There is no such thing as government here; only corruption is rampant,” he said, stressing that while PPP has always advocated for democracy, the PTI government seems incapable of running the province. “We do not want Governor’s rule, but this government itself is creating the justification for it,” he added. He announced that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would visit Peshawar next week to address these issues and strengthen the party’s stance in the province.
