Law and order: Punjab cabinet body extends Rangers’ stay in DGK, Attock

Relevant officials from the Home Department briefed the participants on the current law and order

LAHORE: The 14th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, chaired by Provincial Health Minister and Committee Chairman Khawaja Salman Rafique, was held at the Punjab Home Department on Monday. Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chaudhry Shafi Hussain, attended the meeting via video link.

The meeting thoroughly reviewed the province’s law and order, preparations for the upcoming Pakistan-England cricket series, and other related matters. Relevant officials from the Home Department briefed the participants on the current law and order.It was decided to extend the deployment of two wings of Pakistan Rangers for combing operations in Dera Ghazi Khan and Attock for an additional six months. Similarly, the deployment of one company of Rangers at the Mianwali border checkposts was extended for three months.

The committee also approved the appointment of price control magistrates in Lahore, Faisalabad, Okara, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Rajanpur.Chairman Khawaja Salman Rafique emphasised the importance of ensuring foolproof security arrangements for the upcoming Pakistan-England cricket series in Multan and Rawalpindi.

He reaffirmed the state's responsibility to maintain peace and vowed to take firm action against those disrupting public order.The meeting was attended by Special Secretary Home Fazal Rehman, Additional I.G. Chaudhry Sultan, DIG Special Branch Syed Khurram Ali Shah, DIG CTD Usman Gondal, and other senior officials. Additionally, Additional I.G. South Punjab Muhammad Kamran Khan, commissioners, RPOs, and deputy commissioners participated via video link.
