BARA: The United Nations Food Agriculture Organisation (UNFAO) on Wednesday launched a programme to distribute livestock among the militancy-hit tribesmen in the Bara tehsil of the Khyber Agency.

At least 250 poor families in the Bara Tehsil received the livestock. Each family got four sheep. Fodder feeding and water pots were also distributed.

Senator Momin Khan Afridi from Khyber Agency and in charge of UNFAO Gul Muhammad told the reporters that the organization had launched a programme for the deserving and needy beneficiaries.

They said the beneficiaries were selected through an assessment carried out earlier in last month.

“This package will be obliging not only to meet their nourishing needs but it will also be providing them as an important source of livelihood which will lead to the overall women economic empowerment in Khyber Agency,” they added.
