Naqvi orders proper arrangements for 12th Rabiul Awwal
Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi on Monday ordered the officials concerned to ensure the provision of civic facilities, and proper security arrangements and traffic management on 12th Rabiul Awwal.
During a meeting he chaired to review the arrangements for the upcoming religious occasion, Naqvi said that the celebrations would be held with religious zeal and fervour in the city. East Zone police chief DIG Ghulam Azfar Mahesar briefed the meeting on the security arrangements. The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board executive director, Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation COO Asadullah Khan and other civic agency officials also briefed the meeting on their respective arrangements.
They said that special arrangements would be made for supplying water to processions and mosques. The meeting decided that special cleaning and water supply arrangements would be made for mosques, processions and venues of gatherings in consultation with the clergy and event organisers.
A K-Electric representative told the meeting that special arrangements would be made to ensure uninterrupted power supply to mosques, venues of gatherings and along procession routes. The meeting also decided that special staff would be deployed to ensure cleaning along procession routes, and at mosques and venues of gatherings.
The meeting was also attended by Headquarters Assistant Commissioner Rabia Syed; representatives of the traffic police, the Sindh Rangers, the town municipal corporations and the cantonment boards; and the Karachi Municipal Corporation chief fire officer. East Deputy Commissioner Shehzad Fazal Abbasi and South DC Altaf Sario participated via videoconferencing.
