Vanity number plate scheme next week
LAHORE:The Excise Department Punjab has announced the launch of a vanity number plate scheme starting next week.
According to Director Excise Muhammad Asif, citizens will be able to have custom plates with their name and preferred number. The scheme offers three categories. Asif elaborated that the gold category would cost Rs500,000, platinum category Rs50 million, and corporate category Rs100 million.
The number plate will be owned by the buyer. A comprehensive strategy has been developed to catch counterfeit number plates, and the data about vanity plate holders will be maintained. Mufti Qavi has been appointed as ambassador of the vanity number plate scheme.
However, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has denied the appointment of Mufti Qavi as Excise Department ambassador. She said if anyone within the department had acted without approval, action would be taken against him.
