Army win National Air Rifle/Pistol Championship
KARACHI: Army won the 11th National Air Rifle/Pistol Championship that concluded at PN Shooting Range here on Sunday.
Army took four gold, five silver, and five bronze medals for the first position. Navy grabbed four gold, three silver, and three bronze medals for the runner-up position. “The championship was decided on the tally of silver medals since both Army and Navy won the same number of gold medals,” said Secretary National Rifle Association of Pakistan Razi Ahmed Khan.
He added that this championship was the continuation of preparations for South Asian Games that are to be held in Pakistan next year. In the individual category of air pistol for junior (men), Army’s Shahzaib Ahmed, Ali Raza, and Hamza Razzaq won gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively, with the scores of 577, 562, and 556.
In the individual category of air rifle for junior men, Army’s Sulaiman Khan, M Irfan, and Aqib Hussain clinched gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively, with the scores of 624.0, 619.7, and 615.0.
In the individual category of the event for junior women, Navy’s Misbah Arif, Mamdooha Khalid, and Sanobar Dilawar grabbed gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively, with the scores of 617.7, 615.8, and 612.8, respectively.
In the individual category of air pistol event for youth (men), Navy’s Arsalan Khan and M Farhan won gold and silver medals, respectively, with the scores of 563 and 558, respectively, while Army’s M Hassan took bronze medal with the score of 542.
In the individual category of air rifle event for youth men, Navy’s Ahmed Sultan won gold medal with the score of 621.6 while Army’s Zain ul Abideen and Abdul Manan took silver and bronze medals, respectively, with the scores of 619.3 and 618.3.
In the individual category of air pistol for youth women, Navy’s Hadia Liaqat won gold medal with the score of 567 points and equalled the national record. Army’s Ramisa Nazim and Khadija Shahzadi took silver and bronze medals, respectively, with the score of 546 and 545.
In the individual category of air rifle event for youth women, Army’s Meheq Khaleeq and Jessica Sajid clinched gold and silver medals, respectively, with the scores of 623.3 and 615.2, respectively, while Navy’s Taiba Laraib scored 615.1 points for bronze medal.
