A major operation conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in Landhi busted a non-governmental organisation (NGO) for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking on the pretext of fighting for human rights.

An ANF Sindh spokesman said the suspects admitted to peddling drugs to students at leading universities and hostels, adding that the gang sold drugs to students in Karachi, Hyderabad and their adjoining areas through a woman.

He said the ANF arrested the woman carrying drugs as soon as she reached Karachi from Tando Adam, adding that her accomplices were arrested with her help. He also said that 400g of heroin was found on the woman, and 500g of heroin on her accomplices.

The spokesman said the gang leader was arrested with illegal weapons and drugs, adding that 1.5kg of heroin was found on three suspects, adding that press cards and monograms, and fake vehicle registration number plates were also found during the search of the vehicle used by the suspects.

He said the suspects also admitted to operating in Hyderabad, adding that raids are being conducted to arrest their other accomplices. The spokesman said that cases have been registered against the suspects under the Narcotics Control Act, and further investigation is under way.
