11-year-old rape victim found dead in garbage dump

A girl’s body in a sack that was abandoned at a garbage dump near Lucky Star in the Saddar area of Karachi was found on Sunday. The girl was also subjected to sexual assault. Police have registered a case against unidentified suspects.

The body was found on Pir Karim Talpur Road within the jurisdiction of the Saddar police station. Police took the 11-year-old girl’s body to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

The victim was identified as Ganga Haripur, who lived near the Lilly Bridge in the Frere area. Police have collected evidence from the crime scene.

They believe that unidentified suspects kidnapped the girl, then tortured and murdered her before putting her body in a sack and leaving it at the garbage dump in the early hours.

Police said they are trying to get the CCTV camera footage of the area, adding that they would soon track down the vehicle that was used to dump the body.

Doctors at the hospital said the victim was between nine and 11 years old. They said that according to the results of the initial post-mortem examination, she was raped.
