LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday issued notices to federal government and Election Commission on the petition against amendments to the Elections Act.
Justice Shakeel Ahmed heard the petition filed by Azhar Siddique Advocate. During the hearing, the court summoned Attorney General for assistance.
The LHC directed to present the application before the available bench on the next hearing. Hearing will be held on August 30.
On August 12, a petition was filed in the Lahore High Court against Elections Amendment Act 2024.
It was contended in the plea the Act sought to nullify the decision of Supreme Court on the reserved seats. “Elections Amendment Act 2024 cannot be applied retrospectively”, the petitioner argued.
