CHAKDARRA/TANK: Two teenagers drowned in a seasonal spring at Adenzai tehsil in Chakdarra while flash foods triggered by cloudburst inundated many houses and shops in Garhi Baloch and Jandola Bazaar in Tank, an official said on Saturday.

The two teenagers drowned in a seasonal spring at Adenzai tehsil in Chakdarra.It was learnt that the seasonal spring was overflowing due to heavy rain in the area when two friends drowned in it. They were crossing the spring when they drowned. The local divers pulled out their bodies from the water and handed them over to their families.

The deceased were identified as Sudais, 12, son of Ghani Rahman and Hassan, 15, son of Yousaf Khan. They belonged to Gashkor village in Chakdara.

In Tank, Deputy Commissioner Taimur Ahmad Khan said that the heavy rain in Shawal, Kaniguram, Badar, Jalindar and other areas in Upper South Waziristan caused flooding in Garhi Baloch and Jandola Bazaar in Tank. The official said that many houses and shops were inundated with rainwater. He said the houses had been built in the bed of a watercourse.

However, he added that no loss of life was reported from any part of the district. Meanwhile, the flash floods also affected the traffic on Pak Afghan Highway in Landikotal tehsil of Khyber district.
