Naqvi approves upgradation plans for three stadiums
LAHORE: Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, visited the head office of BDP Pattern, a world-renowned stadium design company, in London.
During the visit, he met with BDP Chairman Chris Harding as well as key members of the company’s sports division, including Design Director John Scott Kohli, and senior architects responsible for the design of Pakistan’s premier cricket stadiums.
Naqvi gave final approval to the designs for the upgradation of Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, National Bank Stadium in Karachi, and Rawalpindi Stadium. These upgrades are part of a significant effort to bring the stadiums up to international standards ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy.
Expressing satisfaction with the designs, Naqvi lauded the engineering and architect teams for their meticulous work. He emphasised the importance of completing the construction work within the stipulated timeframe, stating, “Our entire team will work hard day and night to complete this challenging project before the Champions Trophy. For the first time in history, stadiums are being upgraded on such a large scale to enhance the experience for cricket fans,” he said.
Naqvi also highlighted his personal commitment to overseeing the project, ensuring that every detail meets the highest standards. The BDP team, which has received over 1,000 design quality awards globally, assured PCB of excellence in executing the upgrades.
The meeting was also attended by PCB’s Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer, Pakistan’s High Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Faisal, and key members of the BDP design team, including Dipesh Patel, Head of Sports Division, and Lead Project Designers Maria Bosura and Daniel Goldenberg.
