PESHAWAR: National Democratic Movement (NDM) Chairman Mohsin Dawar on Tuesday asked all political parties to continue efforts to bring back peace to the region. Speaking at a press conference, he said that civilians were being targeted in the fight between militants and security forces.
“The homes of the civilians were destroyed and livestock killed in these violent actions,” he added.
Mohsin Dawar said the people had rejected Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, but complained that an environment was being created to pave the way for such actions.
He alleged that said militants showed presence on a road in Mir Ali Bazaar and authorities ordered the people to vacate homes in the 500-meter vicinity of the road. However, he alleged, the decision was withdrawn after the people offered resistance.
Mohsin Dawar believed that terrorism was a controlled project.
“The [banned] Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan [TTP] was brought back [to Pakistan] in the name of talks,” he said, adding the Taliban had gathered strength in southern districts of KP.
He said even though people from Waziristan to Swat had come out against the resurgence of militants, the mainstream media was not giving coverage to these protests which strengthened the perception that the resurgence was a project. Mohsin Dawar said that a new game was being brought to the region but vowed to resist that.
