LAHORE: As Pakistan gear up for a series of Test matches in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25, key figures within the national cricket team have expressed their commitment to improving their performance.
Speaking at the Islamabad Club, Pakistan captain Shan Masood acknowledged the team’s struggles but stressed that such phases are inherent in the sport.
“Yes, our comeback wasn’t great, and we can’t deny that we didn’t play good cricket. Criticism is part of it, and we must endure it until things improve. This is a good chance to bounce back, play better, and show up as a team. That’s what I’m hoping for,” Shan remarked.
Shan drew inspiration from Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem, expressing a desire to emulate his success and bring joy to the Pakistani people.
“Arshad Nadeem has always been a national hero, and with his recent achievement, he has taken a significant step forward. We are all extremely happy with his victory,” Masood stated. “Whenever we play cricket for Pakistan, the country always comes first for us. Representing Pakistan on any stage or at any level is a privilege.”
Addressing the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, Masood stressed the necessity of securing victories to improve Pakistan’s standing in the WTC. Currently ranked fifth, Pakistan have nine Test matches ahead, seven of which will be played on home soil.
