The director general of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has ordered compliance with the QR code and fire safety rules.

Officials said that under the chairmanship of DG Abdul Rasheed Solangi, a meeting of all directors of the SBCA was held. The meeting focused on strict implementation and enforcement of SBCA policies related to the QR code, installation of firefighting equipment, restoration of car parking, and removal of construction materials from pathways.

Addressing the meeting, the DG emphasized that in line with the government of Sindh’s vision, serving the public, resolving their issues, and ensuring the protection of their lives and property are of utmost importance. These policies are directly related to civic rights, and any violations cannot be overlooked.

He instructed that the survey and issuance of legal notices should be completed at the earliest. The district directors were directed to ensure that QR codes are prominently displayed on information boards related to public sale projects. Notices should be issued where violations are identified, so that citizens can be fully informed about the SBCA-approved status of the project before booking a unit.

The DG highlighted the increasing traffic issues in the city, which are leading to complex problems. He emphasized that unauthorized warehouses, residences, or other illegal constructions within the parking spaces of already constructed residential and commercial buildings should be removed, and the parking areas should be restored.

Director General Solangi pointed out the critical importance of firefighting equipment in any commercial or residential building, as the lack of such equipment in case of a fire emergency can lead to significant disasters.

He stressed that this matter is directly related to the safety of human lives and property, and should therefore receive special attention. A survey should be conducted to identify all such buildings lacking firefighting equipment, and notices should be issued to them.

He further stated that keeping construction materials on roads and pathways at construction sites disrupts traffic flow and causes difficulties for citizens, which is unacceptable. This illegal practice must be stopped at all costs, and strict adherence to the approved construction plan, especially regarding car parking, must be ensured. The meeting was attended by the director admin, director vigilance, and all district directors.
