CM asked to release funds for Waziristan hospital
TANK: The jirga of elders on Tuesday asked Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister to make a local hospital functional to facilitate the residents in Tankanar area in Kaniguram Valley in Upper South Waziristan tribal district.
Addressing the jirga, Malik Rafi Burki and other elders said that Category-D Hospital was constructed in the Tankanar area in Kaniguram Valley some 20 years ago by former governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah.
However, they said that the hospital could not be operationalized due to lack of funds and issues, including militancy and terrorism in the region.The elders said that the hospital needed Rs22.5 million to make it operational and facilitate the local residents.
They appealed to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhary to help release the required funds for the hospital, so it could be made functional.
