‘Usefulness of trees in this year’s intense heat felt very much’
HYDERABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Anees Ahmed Qaimkhani on Sunday said that the usefulness of trees in this year’s intense heat was felt very much, so his party is running a tree planting campaign all over Pakistan, which includes the Green Hyderabad campaign.
Qaimkhani said MQM-P leaders and workers are also creating awareness among people about planting trees, adding that the party is planting thousands of saplings in Hyderabad.
He said that this year the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) did injustice to the people in the extreme heat. He pointed out that it was extremely hot, yet Hesco shut down power.
Sindh Assembly opposition leader Ali Khursheedi said that it is sad to see Hyderabad today. He said that it is the second largest city of the province, but “it was destroyed due to the partisan policies of the provincial government and the Pakistan Peoples Party”.
He said that heavy rains are predicted this month, but the MQM-P lawmakers’ proposals were ignored and they were not included in any kind of consultation.
Qaimkhani later planted a tree sapling at the Bagh Mustafa Ground in Latifabad. He also prayed for the success of the campaign.
