Kundi vows to resist bid to sell varsities’ land
PESHAWAR: Vowing not to allow anyone to sell the land of public sector universities in the province, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said on Saturday that he would soon announce the names of members of the grand jirga to secure the rights of the province from the federal government.
“We will welcome the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to join the jirga to secure rights from the Centre and steer the province out of the prevailing financial crisis,” he told reporters here.
He said that the jirga would plead the case of KP with solid arguments and would get the rights of the province from the Centre amicably.
There would be no issue if the PTI did not attend the jirga but it would not send a positive message to the Centre.
“I know my constitutional limits. I had never ever said to have held talks with the establishment and came into power with their support,” the governor said, adding that the PTI leaders used to say that General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa was running the government during their tenure as the government and institutions were on the same page.
He said that the PTI leaders boasted of having good relations with the establishment but later turned their guns to the institutions and blamed them for every mess committed by their incompetent and incapable rulers.
Kundi opposed the proposed sale of public sector universities in the province, vowing that he would not allow anyone to sell the lands of educational institutions.
