Faiqa, Kishmala out of Olympics
KARACHI: Two Pakistani athletes, Faiqa Riaz and Kishmala Talat, have been eliminated from their respective events at the Paris Olympics, marking a disappointing end to their campaigns.
In the athletics, Faiqa Riaz competed in the women’s 100 meters but failed to advance beyond the preliminary round. With a time of 12.49 seconds, Riaz finished sixth out of nine runners in her heat.
To progress, she needed to be in the top three of her heat or secure one of the five next fastest times overall. Kishmala, who competed in the women’s 25-meter pistol event, finished 22nd overall. Her scores in the precision series were 95, 99, and 99, while in the rapid series, she scored 98, 93, and 99.
Her total score of 579 was not enough for being in the top eight and advance to the next round. The elimination of Riaz and Talat marks the end of their Olympic journey in Paris.
