Baloch Yakjehti Committee supporters briefly detained in Karachi
karachi: Several members of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) were briefly detained on Wednesday outside the Karachi Press Club where they had arrived to hold a press conference against the government action against those protesting for the recovery of Baloch missing persons.
Women were also included in those BYC protesters who were detained. They were shifted to various police stations. However, they were later released later on.
A heavy contingent of police force had arrived outside the Karachi Press Club to prevent the BYC’s press conference.
Earlier, the Balochistan government took action against the BYC after its nationwide protest call.
A soldier was martyred and 16 others injured in firing in Gwadar during clashes between the forces and supporters of the BYC, said the military on Monday.
BYC leader Dr Mahrang Baloch, however, claimed that hundreds of their supporters had been arrested. She alleged that the BYC rallies were peaceful, but security forces resorted to violence to sabotage their protest.
