Govt, institutions urged to work under ambit of constitution
PESHAWAR: General Secretary Insaf Lawyer’s Forum Muazzam Butt has said that government and state institutions should work within constitutional limits as its violation creates discord in the society.
Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, he said that the governor and chief minister should work within their constitutional mandate. Remarks of both chief minister and governor over the apex committee meeting had created confusion among the masses, he added.
The governor’s statement was a violation of the constitution, he said, adding the governor should not issue statements on the apex committee as he was not its member. He asked the governor to perform his constitutional duties and refrain from political statements. He said that the governor had been informed through a letter.
The senior lawyer said that the reserved seats case was presented at the high court in a suitable manner, adding that his stance had been justified in the Supreme Court. He alleged that Mashal Yousafzai had submitted the reserved seats lists in violation of the party leadership directives.
