KP Police to observe Martyrs Day on Aug 4
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police will observe Martyrs Day on August 4 to pay rich tributes to its fallen heroes.
A meeting in this regard was held on Tuesday at the Central Police Office. Additional Inspector General of Police (Investigation) Muhammad Alam Shinwari chaired the meeting. Tasks were assigned to officers for functions to be arranged during Martyrs Week.The force would arrange a grand function in Peshawar on August 4 to pay homage to the martyrs.
The functions have been held for the last several years at the martyrdom anniversary of Safwat Ghayur, a senior police officer who was martyred in a suicide attack in Peshawar on August 4, 2010.
Preparations have already begun for observing Martyrs Day, as in previous years. The first Martyrs Day was observed at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines in 2015, following the directives of the then inspector general of p Nasir Khan Durrani.
