Lawmakers assure building for Swabi Press Club
SWABI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders announced on Monday that a building for the Swabi Press Club (SPC) would be provided soon.
Muqaddam Khan, SPC general secretary, and Mohammad Adil, joint secretary, met with Asad Qaiser, Member National Assembly, and provincial Irrigation Minister Aqibullah Khan. They informed them that while the process for establishing the press club had recently been completed and that they were currently using a rented building on Swabi-Mardan road.
The office-bearers explained that they raised money themselves for the rent and other expenses, which created financial difficulties. They emphasised that if the government provided a building in the district headquarters for the press club, it would be very beneficial for district journalists and make it easier for politicians and the public to approach media persons.
Asad Qaiser acknowledged that the demand for a press club building was genuine. He instructed Mohammad Sagheer, president of the Swabi Bar Association, to provide a building for the press club in the old judiciary building in the district headquarters, as the judiciary had already moved to the Judicial Complex at Shahmansoor.
