ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif says over Rs20 billion agreements had been signed with the Chinese companies during the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Talking to the media here on Monday, he said time had come to fulfill the promise to remove darkness, as over 8,000MW electricity will be produced under the accords. “The documents of agreements will be exchanged in the presence of Chinese president,” he said, adding, “The visit of Chinese president will change the economic map of Pakistan and a positive impact will be felt in the entire region.”
About the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said it will prove to be game changer as Pakistan’s dependence on the IMF and the World Bank will be over.Asif said yet another milestone was crossed on Monday by the Pak-China friendship because it was unprecedented in the 68-year history.
“A new history is being written about cooperation in power and development sectors.”He said the package which had assumed practical shape was the image of the Chinese policies which will leave a positive impact on the region. It will prove to be a binding force between China, Pakistan, Afghanistan and the region at large and ensure Chinese access to warm waters.
