FIA recovers missing children, nabs wanted criminals
Islamabad: Two missing children were safely recovered upon their arrival at Islamabad Airport from Bishkek, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said. This marks the first successful case under the newly integrated Interpol system with the Integrated Border Management Information System (IBMIS), led by FIA Director General Ahmad Ishaque Jahangir.
The children, Muhammad Huzaifa and Ahmed Umair Abid, had been reported missing by the Punjab Police at Police Station Barki, Lahore in 2022. In response, NCB-Interpol Pakistan issued yellow notices to facilitate their recovery. The integration of the Interpol Find System into the FIA's operations in April played a crucial role in their successful recovery. This system connects the immigration database with Interpol's global database, enabling efficient tracking of missing persons and stolen passports.
Close collaboration between Interpol Islamabad and FIA Immigration Islamabad was instrumental in the recovery. The children have been handed over to the concerned police officials for further action. In another operation, NCB-Interpol arrested 9 most wanted criminals from the UAE and handed them over to the relevant police. The arrests were made through a joint strategy between Interpol Islamabad and Interpol Abu Dhabi. The arrested individuals were wanted by the Punjab Police and were facing charges of murder and attempted murder.
The detained individuals include Irfan Asghar, Farhan Nazakat, Samar Abbas, Najeebullah, and Saddam Hussain, who were arrested in the first phase of the operation. Muhammad Rafiq, Muhammad Saqib, Muhammad Usman, and Tariq Mehmood were apprehended in the second phase. The suspects had been wanted for various crimes, with cases against them registered between 2011 and 2023. After committing their crimes in Pakistan, they fled abroad and were arrested in different areas of the UAE. A team has been dispatched to transfer the suspects from the UAE to Pakistan, where they will be handed over to Punjab Police officials at Lahore Airport.
