IIU president inaugurates computer labs funded by Saudi Arabia
Islamabad:Dr. Hathal Hamoud Alotaibi, president, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), Monday, inaugurated the newly established Saudi funded software engineering computer labs in the Faculty of Computing & Information Technology at male and female campuses of the University separately.
According to the IIUI, these Saudi Funded Labs have been equipped with 210 computers. The Department of Software Engineering has been provided with 40 computers on each side. It includes Artificially Intelligent Software Lab at Female Campus and Aspire Software Engineering Lab at Male Campus.
Similarly, Department of Computer Science received 40 computers for each lab and same gadgets were provided for NextGen Computer Lab at Female campus and Digital Frontiers Computer Lab at Male Campus. On the occasion, President IIUI, Dr. Hathal, said the inauguration of these latest labs equipped with the latest technology is an important step to strengthen our efforts which will enhance academic uplift and support the university’s mission to adopt modern educational trends.
The President IIUI emphasised the importance of formulating a comprehensive strategy to meet the technological needs and cope with the upcoming challenges in the present era. Talking about the strategic planning, he stated it is vital to address the university’s challenges and ensure its continued growth.
Dr. Hathal expressed optimism about the positive impact of these labs that will help students for their academic development. The IIUI president stressed upon the faculty to utilize these facilities. Dr. Hathal reiterated his resolve that IIUI would keep providing a milieu of peace and high quality contemporary education integrated with teachings of Islam and latest trends of technology.
He hailed the hard work of the faculty and staff to support the culture of research among the students, while he also assured of all possible support. He opined that Faculty of Computing would help in contributing to the progress of the university in the best manner. The Dean Faculty of Computing & (IT), Dr. Asmat Ullah Khan and Dr. Salma Imtiaz, In-Charge Software Engineering Department and other Departmental heads of the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (IT) at male and female campuses provided a brief of the ongoing activities of students and faculty at campus.
Dr. Asmatullah said that the initiative of the IIUI President to facilitate the students and faculty members is our prime objective. He thanked the IIUI president for his keen interest in the solution of the problems of the IIUI students as well as he vowed that it will be ensured to provide an ideal friendly environment to students. On the occasion, the officials also shared the feedback on providing logistic and administrative support by the university administration.
