LAHORE: Shaheen Shah Afridi misbehaved with the coaches and management during recent tours, but no action was taken by the team managers, said sources.
Pakistan recently toured Ireland and England for T20I series before heading to the United States and West Indies for T20 World Cup 2024. Sources said that maintaining discipline in the team was the responsibility of the managers, which is why it is being investigated why action was not taken against Shaheen despite his misbehaviour. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has removed Senior Manager Wahab Riaz and Manager Mansoor Rana from their posts due to a lack of discipline during the last three tours of the national men’s team.
The PCB is also investigating players who have formed lobbies within the team, which is believed to be causing internal issues. Meanwhile, coaches have highlighted the non-serious attitude of some of the players in their reports, noting that such behavior negatively impacts the team’s atmosphere.
Earlier, Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq were removed from the Pakistan team selection committee following a disappointing T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. Mohammad Yousuf, Asad Shafiq, and Bilal Afzal remain part of the committee.
