Four working groups formed to speed up Pak PWD dissolution

ISLAMABAD: Four working groups have been constituted to speed up the process of dissolution of Pak PWD.
The decision to form the working groups was taken in the meeting of the committee set up to prepare a transition plan for the closure of PWD.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Housing and Construction Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Secretary Cabinet Division, Secretary Establishment Division, Secretary Planning and Development, Secretary Finance Division, Secretary Power Division and Secretary Law and Justice.
To decide the future of PWD employees, a working group has been constituted under Secretary Establishment Division. Other members include Additional Secretary Housing, Additional Secretary Finance, Additional Secretary Law and Justice, Senior Joint Secretary Housing and DGMS Wing Establishment Division.
A second working group has been formed under the Secretary Housing and Works. Other members include Additional Secretary Housing, Additional Secretary Establishment Division, Additional Secretary Finance, Additional Secretary Law and Justice, Additional Secretary Planning, Senior JS Housing and Director PWD. This working group will prepare proposals to replace the PWD with a new entity called the Pakistan Infrastructure Development Company. The company will have three wings which include construction, asset management and maintenance.
The third working group has been formed under the Secretary Planning and Development. Other members include Additional Secretary Housing, Additional Secretary Cabinet Division, Senior JS Housing, Provincial Additional Chief Secretaries Housing, Joint Engineering Adviser Housing and Chief Public Investment Program Planning and Development. This group will give suggestions about the ongoing PSDP projects as to which institutions will complete them.
The fourth working group has been formed under the secretary housing. Other members include Additional Secretary Housing, Additional Secretary IT, Sr. JS Housing, representative of SUPARCO, representative Geological Survey and DG State Office. This working group will give suggestions on computerization of PWD asset records and other matters.
