Ahsan, Ashab in Kanso Open quarters

KARACHI: Pakistan’s Ahsan Ayaz and Ashab Irfan moved into the quarterfinals of the $9000 Kanso Men Open in the US on Friday.
In the pre-quarterfinals, Ahsan overpowered top seed Asim Khan 11-9, 8-11, 11-8, 7-11, 11-7 in 90 minutes and third seed Ashab beat Huzaifa Ibrahim 11-7, 11-8, 11-7 in 35 minutes while Abdul Malik lost to fourth seed Veer Chotrani from India 12-10, 12-10, 11-5 30 minutes. Ahsan is to face seventh seed Liam Marrison from Canada and Ashab is drawn against sixth seed Jorge Luis Gomez Dominguez from Mexico in the quarter-finals.
