‘E-procurement to help eradicate corruption’
GUJRANWALA: Commissioner Syed Naveed Haider Shirazi has said that the implementation of an e-procurement system in all government departments is an important step for good governance and the eradication of corruption.
He said that among the priorities of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is to ensure improvement and transparency in government institutions, and e-procurement will help improve transparency.
Addressing a two-day workshop of DDOs, she said: “E-procurement will not only save billions but also end blackmailing and mafia roles. The monopoly of certain contractors will end, and any aspirant will be able to participate in the auction of contracts from anywhere for healthy competition to eradicate corruption.”
Directions to clean drains before monsoon: Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala Muhammad Tariq Qureshi has directed the Municipal Committee (MC) and NHA authorities to clean the drains and make them fully operational before monsoon.
He said that rains are expected this week and at the beginning of July, due to which there is a fear of disruption in the traffic movement in terms of urban flooding and drainage, which should be avoided in advance. He said timely measures are required to avoid any kind of loss and to provide better facilities to the citizens.
