PABBI: A young patient lost his life due to the alleged negligence of the staff of Mian Rashid Hussain Shaheed Memorial Hospital in Pabbi.
Sources said the Rescue 1122 ambulance brought a patient to the health facility last night. After spending three hours on an emergency bed without receiving any treatment, the patient was discarded into the hospital courtyard on a wheelchair by the staff, and he
tragically passed away after suffering through the night.
The hospital’s medical superintendent has initiated a high-level investigation into the incident.Local residents and political figures, including the provincial president of Awami National Party Mian Iftikhar Hussain, condemned the incident. Mian Iftikhar, whose son the hospital is named after, expressed profound sadness over the inhuman treatment of the patient.
He and the local community have demanded immediate action from the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial health minister, and other relevant authorities against those responsible.
The hospital’s Medical Superintendent Dr Ikhtiar Ali confirmed the formation of an investigation committee led by Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Idrees.Dr Ali said that the patient was initially referred to LRH in Peshawar, but the Rescue 1122 team refused to transport him, adding that the issue was under investigation.
Meanwhile, the local community said that the MS’s frequent absence from duty contributed
to the hospital’s poor management, and called for a thorough review of the hospital’s administration.
