England confirm Pakistan visit for three-Test series
ISLAMABAD: England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed playing the scheduled three-match away Test series against Pakistan in October, during Chairman Richard Thompson and Mohsin Naqvi’s meeting in London on Saturday.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi discussed matters of mutual cricket interest with his counterpart including the coming cricket events. “England team will be visiting Pakistan for the three-match Test series which will be the second of its kind in two years. Both heads of Boards discussed matters relating to the series to be held in October.” The News has learned that a Test match each will be played at three major venues-Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi during the series. “Discussions were also held on the possibility of holding a side match in Pakistan or at a neutral venue during the England team’s camp training most probably in UAE.”
Naqvi invited Thompson to visit Pakistan during the three-match series in October.
Naqvi thanked the ECB and its team for extending all possible support to the Pakistan squad during the just concluded T20 series. “The two heads of the cricketing boards also discussed the forthcoming T20 World Cup to be hosted jointly by the US and West Indies. They expressed their best wishes on the success of the event, maintaining that the game’s reaching the new avenues would further popularize cricket.”
Naqvi briefed ECB officials on the steps taken to organize the February 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan in a befitting manner.
“All arrangements are being given final touches to hold the 2025 Champions Trophy Cricket in a befitting manner. The PCB chairman briefed ECB officials on the venues and security measures to be taken during the mega event.”
The work is already in progress on three major centres which will host matches during the Champions Trophy. The PCB Chairman confirmed completing all the upgradation work well ahead of the start of the Champions Trophy. “Top grade Security measures will be adopted for the vising teams.
These measures will be the same which were extended to visiting cricketing teams on their recent tours to Pakistan for red and white ball cricket,” Naqvi, said during his meeting with ECB Chairman.
The ECB Chairman expressed his best wishes to the PCB on the forthcoming Champions Trophy, hoping that the event would be a real success.
