ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Thursday welcomed the decision of Lahore High Court (LHC) judge Justice Shahid Karim, ordering the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to appoint 6 judges as election tribunals within a week.
In a statement issued here, PTI spokesperson said that Justice Shahid Karim’s decision was enough for the puppet electoral watchdog to realise its constitutional role and remain within its constitutional limits.
He pointed out that in the presence of judges who upheld the constitution and law, the ECP’s attempts to use judicial powers to protect its masters, would remain a mere dream.
PTI spokesperson said that it was next to possible to justify the ambush on public mandate through sabotaging the constitution with the help of non-constitutional ordinances or notifications.
He noted that after the statements of Commissioner Rawalpindi and Anwarul Haq Kakar, the electoral body’s numerous decisions had further confirmed the commission’s criminal role in rigging the elections.
PTI spokesperson said that the failure to achieve the desired goals to minus PTI from electoral arena that secured a clear-cut majority in the general elections, had ‘embarrassed’ the commission and its masters.
He emphasised that the court clearly directed the ECP to appoint judges as tribunals within 6 days and the electoral watchdog should shun the practice of pleasing ‘earthly gods’ and ensure the respect of the court’s decision while staying within its constitutional ambit.
PTI spokesperson cautioned that any further clash with the judiciary for the sake of satisfying the personal ego of an individual would only further tarnish the reputation and credibility of the commission.
