Nepra names K-Electric top performer in electricity provision

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued its “HSE Performance Evaluation Report 2024,” spotlighting K-Electric as the leading performer in delivering electricity.

This comprehensive assessment scrutinizes health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards across the electricity sector, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and enhancements over time. K-Electric has demonstrated notable advancements across all facets, from power generation to distribution, consistently meeting NEPRA’s stringent HSE benchmarks.

According to the report, consumer satisfaction ratings for electricity provision place Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) in the second position, followed by Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) in third. Gepco secured the fourth spot in electricity supply, with Mepco trailing in fifth. Meanwhile, distribution companies, including Sukkur and Hyderabad, ranked lowest in performance metrics.

K-Electric maintains its top-tier status with an impressive score of 95 for electricity supply, as per the report’s findings. The evaluation report provides an in-depth analysis of K-Electric’s and other Discos’ performance across various parameters, as evaluated by NEPRA. K-Electric underwent scrutiny as both a Generation and Distribution licensee.

In terms of Generation Performance, K-Electric’s scores have soared from 62 in 2020/21 to 90 in 2021/22, and further to an outstanding 96.5 in 2022/23, earning them a commendable rating in the latest assessment.

Similarly, Transmission Performance metrics exhibited a remarkable ascent, escalating from 61 in 2020/21 to an outstanding 95 in both 2021/22 and 2022/23 evaluations. Its Distribution Performance also remained consistently high, with scores of 62 in 2020/21, 91 in 2021/22, and 88 in 2022/23, maintaining an outstanding rating across all periods.
