Cardiac complex to be built in Mayo Hospital
LAHORE:A meeting was held in the Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique regarding increasing the capacity of the cardiac surgery department of Mayo Hospital and other cardiology hospitals. The performance of the Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology was also reviewed. The officers concerned briefed the minister in this regard.
Secretary Health Punjab Ali Jan Khan, Special Secretaries Syed Wajid Ali Shah and Raja Mansoor, Additional Technical Secretary Dr Hafiz Shahid Latif, KEMU Vice Chancellor Prof Mahmood Ayaz and other officers were present.
Executive Director, MS and officers concerned of Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology participated through a video link conference. Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said a state-of-the-art cardiac complex would be built in Mayo Hospital Lahore. Department of Cardiac Surgery in all Government Teaching Hospitals of Punjab is being improved. We are completing HR in the Department of Cardiac Surgery at Mayo Hospital.
Increasing the capacity of cardiac surgery departments of government hospitals will make a significant difference in the rush of patients in cardiology hospitals. He said that we cannot compromise even one percent on the quality of treatment in cardiology hospitals. Standard and expensive treatment facilities are being provided to patients suffering from heart diseases in government cardiology hospitals. We want to make a clear improvement in the waiting list in cardiology hospitals of Punjab. Providing better treatment facilities to patients suffering from heart diseases is the first priority.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz wants to provide the best medical facilities to heart patients. Secretary Health Punjab Ali Jan Khan said that it is very important to increase the capacity of cardiology hospitals in Punjab. The provision of other facilities, including HR is being ensured in the cardiology hospitals.
Chairman Board of Directors Punjab Institute of Cardiology Prof Farqad Alamgir said that the medical facilities were being reviewed by visiting the cardiology hospitals of Punjab. Various reforms can further improve the efficiency of cardiology hospitals.
Meanwhile, Khawaja Salman Rafique along with LDA DG Tahir Farooq visited Laal Pul and Butt Chowk and reviewed the railway track and traffic flow.
LDA DG Tahir Farooq briefed the minister in this regard. On this occasion, Khawaja Salman Rafique discussed traffic flow with the citizens. He said that after repairing and widening the roads, traffic flow would improve. DG LDA Tahir Farooq will soon send his engineering team to Lal Pul and Butt Chowk. We should ensure compliance with traffic rules at all times. Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique directed DG LDA to take immediate steps to repair and open the roads.
