It is not surprising that the economic woes of Pakistan have driven many towards LPG as a cheaper fuel alternative, particularly for public transport. This shift, while understandable, presents a grave danger as gas cylinders can be very unsafe. These unregulated cylinders can be ticking time bombs particularly given the fact that many people do not know how to handle them properly. Hence, it is not uncommon to hear of cylinders exploding and killing and/or injuring many people. Government intervention is needed to address this issue. Implementing mandatory safety checks and public awareness campaigns are indispensable to make sure cylinders are safe and people can handle them properly.
