Islamabad: The Cyber Crime Circle Islamabad of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a blackmailer involved in online sexual harassment against an underage girl, the FIA spokesman said.
The suspect, Shariz Riaz, had circulated objectionable images of a minor girl online and recovered equipment used in creating and publicising the sexual videos from his custody, the spokesman said. The blackmailer created a fake social media account in the name of victim to circulate her images. The suspect not only circulated the victim's images but also shared the objectionable material with the girl's brother through her WhatsApp ID, aiming to blackmail her. A case had been registered against the suspect in 2023, and several raids were conducted to arrest him, and finally arrested. According to an FIA spokesperson, this arrest is a crucial step against heinous crimes like sexual harassment on social media, and law enforcement agencies are taking stringent measures against such offenses.
